Rigorously observational, “Blue Skies” is a documentary that immerses viewers in one summer within Wisconsin’s Northwoods.

 The vérité film witnesses the transmission of culture within two distinct but overlapping versions of America that inhabit the same zip code.

Forest County is home to two Native American reservations, 350,000 acres of national forest, unlimited fish fry, and not a single traffic light. Through one summer, this observational documentary takes us behind the scenes of the construction of an Anishinaabe wigwam, the tourist operations of a 107-year-old Lumberjack Steam Train, and Wisconsin’s longest running water ski show––all within a 10 mile radius. Amidst an ensemble, multi-generational cast, "Blue Skies" explores how tradition is shared and safeguarded across age, race, and class.
